What is HIV?

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is the virus that causes AIDS, Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. HIV harms the body's immune system by attacking certain cells, known as helper T cells or CD4 cells, which defend the body against illness.
